William Heller Obituary

William Henry Heller, "Bill", passed away on February 20, 2022, in Broomfield, Colorado. He was 84 years old. Bill was born and raised in Idaho Springs, Colorado, the second son of Eva (Woodward) and Albert "Bus" Heller, along with his brother Robert "Bob" Heller. After graduating from Clear Creek High School, Bill attended the University of Colorado, where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration, and met his future wife, Patricia (Banyai) Heller. Pat and Bill married in the fall of 1961 after graduation, and immediately settled in Broomfield, where they lived throughout 60 years of marriage, and raised their three children Bill, Tricia and John.

Bill spent the better part of his professional life in sales, including owning his own business, W.H. Sales Inc. In the early 70's he was instrumental in bringing snowmaking to the Colorado ski industry, selling the snowmaking water pumps to several local mountain resorts, as well as Sun Valley. He also worked at Kroger's for many years, as well as holding a "semi-retired" position at Frontier Airlines. He held a number of different volunteer and board positions throughout his professional career, and as someone with a rare blood type, he was a regular and devoted blood donor. Bill was also quite the handyman, putting skills and lessons learned at an early age while working in his father's Idaho Springs hardware store to practical use - from his uncanny zipper-repair ability to building a family cabin in Summit County.

The most notable things however about Bill Heller were his soft smile, warm eyes, strong stature, sweet spirit, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. He would greet you with an irresistible idiom, and always bid you goodbye with the words "God bless." Bill was supportive and proud of his wife and kids' accomplishments, and he always recounted a story with warmth and flare. He was an avid fan of his beloved Buffs and Broncos, a proud 3rd generation native of Colorado, a loyal and trusted friend, a father figure to many, an amazing athlete, and a patient instructor and coach. But top of the list always was Bill's immense love of family.

Bill is survived by his wife Pat Heller; son Bill Heller (Niki Esmay Heller); daughter, Tricia Heller (Regina Brown M.D.); son, John Heller (Tara Grote Heller); brother Robert Heller; grandsons Rhody, Griffin, Connor and Blake; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. All will miss his warmth and kindness but will forever feel his loving embrace.
