Silas Mason Obituary

Silas Thomas Mason, 70, of Longmont Colorado, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Silas, affectionately called “Tom” by his family and childhood friends, was born on July 11, 1952 in Clinton, Massachusetts to Silas and Lillian (Thomas) Mason. A 1970 graduate of Clinton High School, he moved to Colorado to pursue a truck driving career and for the appeal of skiing. He lived in various cities in Colorado over the past 50 years and loved its breadth of beauty.

Small in stature, but brawny, Silas’ strength and stamina attracted him to the labor industry, as a young man. He welcomed the physical demands of work that challenged his endurance and kept him fit. He frequently, fondly reminisced about his first jobs at Standard Sign & Signal and Kilcoyne Bros Contracting in Clinton and his many hometown friends.

A 49ers fan, Silas avidly followed pro football. Free-spirited and fun-loving, he enjoyed darts, fishing, travel, Jimi Hendrix and especially his Coloradan friends: Jerry & Patty; Linda & Jim; and George. Throughout his adventurous life, he retained many memories. Sharing his stories made him sparkle. His charisma endeared him to many in Clinton MA and around Colorado.

Silas was preceded in death by his parents: Silas and Lillian (Thomas); paternal grandparents, Silas and Martha (Hennessey). He is survived by his sister Linda, a brother Henry, both of Clinton, Massachusetts and cousins Cynthia Aiken and James Jr (Mary Joe) Williams, James III (Alexa) Williams, all of Anchorage, Alaska.
