Gene David Taylor passed away in Boulder on Sunday, September 23rd, 2018, a beautiful, quiet autumn evening. The people whom he loved and who shared in his life were with him as he passed, listening to his favorite Emmylou Harris song, "Boulder to Birmingham," as he moved to his next adventure with peace and dignity.
Gene had a life-long passion for outdoor adventuring, and when he arrived in Colorado in 1968 he said, "I've found where I'm supposed to be." He climbed each of the Flatirons and Devil's Thumb, he skied every nordic trail he could find, and he hiked much of the Front Range. He made Boulder his home with his wife, Eileen, for the last 32 years, where he planted and vigilantly tended to his xeriscape garden. As his family grew to include two children and many dogs, they shared in his weekend adventures.
His family will host a Celebration of Life at the family home in Boulder on October 13. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Montana Wilderness Association in his name.
