Thomas Martella of Louisville died Saturday, February 17, 2018, at his home in Louisville surrounded by family. He was 92.
Tom was born to Liberato Martella and Colomba Scasserra Martella in Marshall, CO on October 11, 1925 and attended schools in Louisville. He served in the U. S. Navy 1941–1944. He married Mary Miller in 1950 in Boulder, CO. He worked at the Colorado Brick Company for 23 years and at the Rocky Flats Plant for 19 years.
Survivors include his wife Mary, daughters Joan (Bob) Luxner of Louisville and Brenda (Steve) Summers of Boulder, grandsons Corey (Tallie) Luxner, Kevin (Ashley) Luxner, Kyle Luxner, and Eric Summers, great grandchildren Olivia Luxner, Cassandra Luxner, Stella Luxner, Charlotte Luxner, Emma Gallegos, Ava Gallegos, and Owen Gallegos, brother Bill, sister-in-law Donna Ernst of Evans, CO, numerous nieces and nephews and beloved cat Malaysia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Vince, Tony, Albert, Ed “Fatty” and Clarence, and his sister Marge.
The family is grateful for the excellent care that Tom received from the staff at Avista Hospital and from TRU Hospice. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date.
